15 Minutes of Fame

This expression is credited to Andy Warhol, who included the words "In the future, everyone will be world-famous for 15 minutes" in the program for a 1968 exhibition of his work at the Moderna Museet in Stockholm, Sweden. These ate some of my 15 minutes.

Leprechaun

One of the things I told Amy about California that she had trouble believing was how easy it was to be an extra in a movie. Driving back from a day of house hunting, we saw a movie being filmed in Saugus. We stopped and stood around watching for a while. When one of the crew came near us I told him that if they needed any extras we would be happy to do it and that we have no problem signing the required waivers.

A little while later the crew member came back and said that they could use some people to be customers in the cafe. We said that we would be happy to, signed the required papers, and became part of the cast. It turned out that the movie was Leprechaun. If you don't blink, you can see us sitting at the counter of the cafe 38 minutes and 33 seconds into the film.

Being part of the cast has it's perks. While we waited for our scene to be filmed, the cast and crew were served dinner. Warwick Davis's ("Willow") kids invited us to eat dinner with their family. They (Warwick, his wife, and their kids) were some of the nicest people we have ever met. Later, one of Warwick's kids saw Amy playing her nose flute and draged her over to Mark Holton (Francis in "Pee-wee's Big Adventure"). He was very interested and had her play several songs.
