Not everything in standards is contentious, much of it is just boring. During one very long and boring presentation by Amp about "A Method to Test Cables to Determine Suitability to be Used With Vampire Taps" (yes, even the title of the presentation was long and boring) I scribbled a parody of the test method on my note pad. A friend of mine (Charlie Brill) who worked for Amp liked my sketch, so I made him a copy. I guess other people at Amp liked the sketch too, because, at the next month's meeting, Charlie brought me a full color version well drawn of my sketch and told me that they had incorporated it into their presentation.
