Pie Crust
My mother always used Crisco to make pie crusts. This is my version of her recipe.
Ingredients
- 2 cups flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 cup vegetable shortening
- ice water
Instructions
- Stir flour and salt in large bowl until blended.
- Cut shortening into flour mixture using pastry blender or fork until shortening pieces are the size of peas.
- Gradually add just enough water, 1 tbsp at a time, stirring with fork just until dough holds together and forms a smooth ball.
- Divide dough in half and shape into two balls.
- Chill a minimum of 4 hours.
- Roll out dough between 2 sheets of waxed paper or just press directly into pie pan.
