A medieval form of mulled wine, Hippocras is as pleasing to the modern modern tastes as it was in the 1300s.

  1. Heat the wine until it is hot but not boiling.
  2. Add the hippocras powder and the sugar.
  3. Stir until the sugar is completely dissolved.
  4. Allow to sit 10 minutes, covered, to allow the spices to release their flavor.
  5. Strain through a layer of unbleached muslin.
  6. Serve hot.

Note: definately not sugar free.
