A medieval form of mulled wine, Hippocras is as pleasing to the modern
modern tastes as it was in the 1300s.
- Heat the wine until it is hot but not boiling.
- Add the hippocras powder and the sugar.
- Stir until the sugar is completely dissolved.
- Allow to sit 10 minutes, covered, to allow the spices to release their flavor.
- Strain through a layer of unbleached muslin.
- Serve hot.
Note: definately not sugar free.
