Step 10
- Remove the headdress form the wig head and put it on the person's head.
- Use a piece of chain to measure from the rearmost side jump ring to the end
of the chain in the back. Separate that piece of chain and set it aside.
- Put the headdress back on the wig head.
- Using the piece you just divided as a reference, make another piece of chain
the same length.
- Inset these pieces of chain between the rearmost side jump rings and the
at the end of the chain in the back (see Figure 8).
Step 11
As shown in Figure 8, the back area is divided into 4 areas. Consider the
side areas determine how to best fill in the upper areas:
- If you divided the rearmost side chains (i.e. filled in the side area by
horizontally chains across across the side or by chains radiating from the
front side jump ring) you should strongly consider using the jump rings
on the rearmost side chains when filling in the back (see figure 9).
- If you did not divide the rearmost side chains you should strongly consider using
a pattern that does not require dividing these chain segments (see figure 10).
- In either case, the important things to remember are the same as stated in Step 6.
Step 12
Hair length is the critical factor when deciding
how to fill in the lower back areas. If a person has very long hair (see picture):
- Use either have horizontal chains or chains forming upward or downward chevrons (see Figure 11).
- You should also consider adding one or more chains with clasps
that go behind the hair and keep the back of the headdress in place.
- Chains can be spaced up to 6″ apart.
If the person has medium length hair,
you have a lot more choices on how you fill the lower back area:
- You can have either have horizontal chains or chains forming chevrons like
you would use for long hair (see Figure 11). If you do, you need to use close
enough spacing get at least four chains across the lower back area.
- If you divided the pieces of chain the form the boundry between the upper and lower back
when you filled in the upper back, you have the option of filling in the lower back
with vertical chains that run between the jump rings on the pieces of chain
the form the boundry between the upper and lower and the jump ring on the end of the
back chain. If you do this, you will need to replace the jump ring on the end of the
back chain with a 10mm jump ring.
- If the hair does not naturally stay under the headdress in back, you need to add a clasp
that goes behind the hair and keeps the back of the headdress in place.
If the person has short hair, lower back area is small:
- If it is very small, you should remove it.
- If you divided the pieces of chain the form the boundry between the upper and lower back
when you filled in the upper back, you have the option of filling in the lower back
with vertical chains that run between the jump rings on the pieces of chain
the form the boundry between the upper and lower and the jump ring on the end of the
back chain (see Figure 12). If you do this, you will need to replace the jump ring on the end of the
back chain with a 10mm jump ring.
- If neither of the above apply, fill in the lower back as a mirror image of
the upper back.
After adding all of the back chains, adjust the chain lengths as described in
Step 3.
